About Outrank

Outrank is a higher-or-lower game built on real reference data. Each round shows two things and asks which one is greater — more calories, more sugar, more protein, further to fly. You pick, both numbers are revealed, and you move on. Ten rounds, about ninety seconds.

The reason it is more interesting than it sounds is that human intuition about magnitude is reliably terrible. Almost everybody knows that a doughnut has more sugar than a cucumber. Almost nobody can say whether half an hour of vigorous gardening burns more than half an hour of swimming, or whether Frankfurt or Boston is further from Cancún. Those are the rounds that decide your score, and they are deliberately saved for the end.

Common questions about Outrank

Are the numbers accurate?

They are reproduced from the published datasets without adjustment. Food figures are per 100 g as recorded by the USDA; energy expenditure is the standard MET calculation at 75 kg. Real-world values vary with preparation, portion and person — the game is about relative magnitude, not dietary advice.

Does everyone get the same ten questions?

Yes, everyone playing on the same calendar day gets the identical ten rounds in the identical order. The set is generated from the date itself.

What happens if the two values are almost identical?

Pairs closer than about 6% apart are excluded, so there is always a defensible answer. Pairs within 30% are flagged as close calls in your shared result.

Is this dietary or medical advice?

No. It is a game built on public nutrition and activity reference tables. Do not plan your diet or training around it.

Can I play more than once a day?

Yes — unlimited mode generates fresh sets on demand, as many as you want, free.
